March Favorites 2013

Look at that. I promised myself that I would keep up this blog and I haven't been. I suck.

Anyway, another month has gone by and that means it's time to recap the favorite products of this month! I can't believe it's already April. Then again, I think that about every month. It's beginning to get warmer around here! But I digress, let's get onto the products!

Here's everything!

Nars Blush in "Deep Throat": I've been reaching for this blush constantly all month because it's a subtle pick-me-up for my face. It's a pretty peachy pink that leans more pink with some gold shimmer that doesn't transfer too much to your face. It compliments my skin tone well and I think it's more flattering than the infamous "Orgasm".
Benefit High Beam: This highlighter comes with a brush applicator that mimics a nail polish bottle and it's a pinky champagne color that brightens your face instantly. It's one of my favorite highlighters.
M.A.C. angled blush brush no. 168: I usually gravitate towards the traditional 128 blush brush by MAC but recently, I've been using this brush for a more precise blush application.

Maybelline Fit Me concealor in 20 Sable: I love any under eye concealor and I've been using this one all month. It's nothing groundbreaking but I recommend it because it doesn't cake up under your eyes.
L'Oreal Colour Riche Color Caresse in "Rose Taffeta": I honestly had to look up the name of this because I had no idea. It's a beautiful, natural rose color (duh) that makes my face look more awake. I tend to layer it under my next lip favorite.
L'Oreal Colour Riche Caresse Aqua Lip Lacquer in "Rose On and On": I feel like this just enhances the previous lip color and it stays on forever. It's very pink and I love the texture of it, and it's not too sticky for a lip stain.

Side note: Does anyone buy things just because it has their name in it? These last two lip purchases were definitely influenced by the name "Rose". lol

Swatches!
Left to Right, L'oreal lip stain in "Rose On and On", L'oreal lipstick in "Rose Taffeta", Nars blush in "Deep Throat", Benefit High Beam, and Maybelline concealor in "20 Sable"

I hope everyone has had a good month of April, I defintely am excited for warmer weather. Not looking forward to all that rain that April brings though.

This is Rose, signing off! :]

The Other Half

Hello Beautiful People!!!

Welcome to Closet Conscious! Rose and I are very excited to take our first steps into the beauty and fashion world and I am so glad to have you join us in that journey. Before I continue any further, let me introduce myself.

My name is Julie and I am the other half of Closet Conscious. Within my 22 years of existence I grew very fond of music and fashion. I am constantly seeking ways to reinvent myself, inside and out. I am a student at university and although I am about to graduate, I'm still in the process of self identity. That's all for now. Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you in the next post!

'Til next time, peace.

Chantecaille Future Skin Foundation Review

SUP?!

It's Rose here once again. Now you're going to realize in a little bit that I'm sort of beauty product crazed. I'm constantly trying new cosmetics so I thought I would share my thoughts of the current products I'm using

Now a little back story to this purchase is necessary because I don't want to give the impression that I make these kind of hefty purchases on the regular. Which I do not. (Thank goodness.)

I was a Nordstrom before going into work last week to return the Burberry Velvet Touch Foundation, which was lovely, but broke me out so it had to go. Amidst the returning of that foundation, the sales associate ringing me up strikes up a conversation about what kind of foundations I'm interested in. I've recently become a foundation junkie and am open to trying all kinds

The sales associate who rang me up happened to be a Chantecaille counter associate. (Uh oh.) With those not familiar with the brand, this is high end makeup we're taking about here. Chantecaille makes MAC look like Wet'N'Wild. (I love Wet'N'Wild products by the way.)

We make our way over to the Chantecaille counter and she sends me off with a sample of their Future Skin Foundation in Cream in tow.

When I got home, I fell in love. And all I could think was, "Crap, this shit's expensive."

Obviously I purchased the full size. :'[
The oil free gel-cream formula applies like a dream and makes your face look bright and alive. Now this isn't a full coverage foundation by any means so if that's what you're looking for, this isn't the product for you.

For color comparison, Future Skin in "Cream", Revlon Nearly Naked in "150 Nude" and Neutrogena Healthy Skin in "60 Natural Beige"
Look at that luxurious creaminess.
This has dethroned my previous favorite, Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation for the time being. I love how this makes my face look. Not too perfect, but it blurs your imperfections ever so slightly and doesn't feel or look like you have any makeup on at all.

It has a very pleasant cooling feeling when you apply it thanks to the aloe in the formula. It's oil-free so it sits well with my oily/combo skin. I use my Real Techniques Buffing brush to apply this all over my face.

Now I set this with the new Nars Translucent Crystal Powder so I'm not sure if that affects the finish. But I love it.

Bottom line is, if you want to treat yourself to a $72 (I know, ouch.) luxury foundation, this would be the one I recommend for light to medium coverage. I would probably repurchase this if I run out.

Swatched and blended out slightly.
This is one half of ClosetConscious, Rose, signing out.
<3 Love always!

First Post!

Welcome to our new fashion/beauty/lifestyle blog!

This is one half of ClosetConscious writing this post at the moment. Let me take a minute to introduce myself. My name is Rose, I'm a 22 year old obsessed with all things fashion or beauty related. Yes, I'm very vain. But this isn't a blog about how humble we all are, it's about clothes, cosmetics, and everything else in between.

I'll let my partner in crime introduce herself in her own post so with that tiny paragraph, I give you the birth of ClosetConscious!

Hello!
